Reverse charging has appeared in the iPhone

Apple has introduced an external battery for the iPhone 12, with which the reverse charging function is activated on smartphones. The accessory appeared in the company’s online store.

The MagSafe external battery supports wireless charging for the iPhone via the appropriate protocol. To use the accessory, you need to attach it to the back of the device, while it is attached to the phone by means of a magnet. The battery allows you to maintain an optimal charging level for the iPhone.

According to the documentation, the MagSafe accessory can be charged through the smartphone case. To do this, you need to connect the device to the iPhone and connect the phone by wire to the charging adapter. In this case, the Apple smartphone will first charge to the optimal state, and then it will give energy to the magnetic accessory.

Apparently, in other scenarios, reverse charging on the iPhone cannot be activated. In many flagship Android smartphones, where a similar function is present, it is used to recharge compatible accessories — for example, wireless headphones or smart watches-using the phone.

The MagSafe external battery is compatible exclusively with current Apple smartphones-iPhone 12, 12 mini, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max. The cost of the device in Russia was 9490 rubles.

Earlier, insiders said that the iPhone 13 series devices planned for the fall will support a new generation of charging. The phones will receive reinforced magnets that will ensure a more reliable contact of the smartphone with accessories.
